UTampa acceptance rate — Lowkey Underrated?

I was checking schools in Florida and stumbled on the University of Tampa. Acceptance rate’s around 50-60%, which isn’t bad at all. Campus looks insane (waterfront, palm trees, the whole vibe).

Anyone …I was checking schools in Florida and stumbled on the University of Tampa. Acceptance rate’s around 50–60%, which isn’t bad at all. Campus looks insane (waterfront, palm trees, the whole vibe).

Anyone here go there or apply? Is it solid academically, or mostly known for the aesthetic + social scene? Curious if it’s one of those hidden gems people sleep on.

Yeah, I’m actually applying there too :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: From what I’ve seen, it’s def not just a “party with a view” vibe. The programs look solid, especially biz and sciences, and the campus perks are just… a bonus.

I’m a current UTampa student, so here’s the real vibe beyond the brochures.

Is it a “party school with a view”?
Yes… and no.

There is a party culture, mostly because the campus literally looks like a resort and you’re in Tampa. But academics aren’t a joke. Smaller class sizes mean professors actually know you. If you show up and put in effort, you’ll get real opportunities.

I got into UTampa last year, so here’s the real vibe: yeah, the campus really does look like a resort — water, palm trees, sunsets, all that. But it’s not just a “party school with palm trees.” Business, marine science, and some health-related programs are pretty strong.

The social scene exists, sure, but it’s what you make of it. If you want balance, you can find it. If you want nonstop beach energy, that’s there too. Acceptance rate might look mid-range, but it doesn’t feel like a fallback school once you’re there

This is UTampa, guys ^^

Ok, Im a 3rd-year student at UTampa, so I’ve seen how the acceptance rate has moved since I applied

When I first looked at UTampa stats (around 2021-22), the acceptance rate was over 50 %
