I know it’s not a quick route, but for those of you who are therapists or in grad school for it, how did you decide on you r undergrad major, internships, and experience?![]()
Honestly, most people I know who went into therapy didn’t start with psych as their undergrad. Some did sociology, education, or even English and then pivoted. What matters more is getting volunteer
I’m curious too! Did most of you do psych undergrad or something totally different? Also, how early did you start shadowing or doing internships — like freshman year kinda early, or more junior/senior year?
I’m trying to figure out when it actually makes sense to start getting that experience, because a lot of grad programs seem to care about volunteer work, research, or some kind of mental health related experience before applying.
