First day of college advice? What advice would you give to frashman?

Mine’s next week and I’m freaking out lol.

Is it really like those movies where people immediately make friends? Or should I expect awkwardness for a few weeks? :joy:

First day feels like a mix of summer camp, awkward speed dating, and a fire drill you weren’t trained for. Just smile, fake confidence, and ask someone where the bathroom is… you’ll accidentally start a conversation and that’s usually how the first friendships happen.

Totally normal to freak out a little — but here’s the truth: it’s rarely like the movies. Most people feel awkward at first, even if they don’t show it. First day tip? Say “hi” to someone next to you in class. Half the time they’re just as relieved someone broke the silence.

Don’t try to “optimize” your first week.
Sit in different seats. Talk to random people. Say yes to dumb plans.
The goal isn’t to look cool - it’s to not lock yourself into the wrong routine too fast.

Totally normal to feel awkward for a bit — the movies lie
My best advice: don’t stress about finding “your people” on day one. Just show up, talk to a few strangers, and let it be messy. Most real friendships in college form slowly over weeks, not instantly

My first week at college i have fear

My biggest advice for any freshman isn’t “join clubs” or “be yourself,” it’s: sit next to the same people twice. That’s how friendships actually start in college… not from some huge movie moment, but from small repeated interactions.
