What happens if you fail a class in college?Asking for… science 😅

Anyone been there? Curious what actually happens if you flunk a class. Do you just retake it, or does it mess with financial aid and your GPA permanently? Asking for… science

I failed one last semester :grimacing: it wasn’t the end of the world, but it did tank my GPA for a bit. Had to retake it to replace the grade, and yeah, financial aid got a little tricky since there’s a limit on how many credits you can fail or repeat before it affects eligibility. Talking to my advisor early helped a lot though

:face_with_medical_mask: Let’s just say… I “ran an experiment” on this once for science purposes only

You don’t get kicked out or anything, but your GPA takes a hit that feels personal. You can usually retake it the new grade often replaces the old one in your GPA calculation, but the F may still stay on your transcript. If it drops you below a certain GPA, you might end up on academic probation, which just means you have to improve next semester

Been there . If you fail a class, a few things happen:

  1. That F goes on your transcript and lowers your GPA

  2. Most schools let you retake the class to replace the grade (sometimes both grades stay, but only the new one counts toward GPA)

  3. If you fail multiple classes, you might get put on academic probation

It feels dramatic in the moment, but one failed class usually isn’t career-ending.
