What are actually useful college graduation gifts?

I don’t need another mug or inspirational quote frame. What’s something you got (or wish you did) that helped in real life?

Forget mugs and quote posters — here’s what actually helps:

:graduation_cap: Cash or Gift Cards — Obvious, but still undefeated. Especially helpful during job hunting or moving.

:briefcase: Nice Work Bag or Laptop Backpack - Something professional that you’d actually carry to interviews or your first job. Quality matters here.

:page_facing_up: Resume/LinkedIn Coaching Session - Lowkey underrated. A one-time session with a career coach can genuinely boost confidence and polish your applications.

:house: Moving Support - Even just helping pay for a deposit, flight, or furniture delivery is way more useful than decorative stuff.

A high-quality laptop:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: . Not a budget one - something reliable for work, side projects, or grad school. That’s the one gift I wish someone had invested in for me

Personally I wasn’t super into the typical gifts like pens or plaques. What I actually appreciated was stuff that helped in real life after graduation.

One year my aunt got me a nice backpack + noise-canceling headphones, and I used both constantly during job applications and commuting. Practical > sentimental, at least in that phase. If it makes adult life slightly easier, it’s a win.

I’ve seen a lot of gifts, but these stood out way more than the usual stuff. Mixing useful + a bit creative worked best for both college graduation gifts for her and college graduation gifts for him.

For her:
:dizzy:A solo trip fund with a small plan. Not just money, but like “3 days in X city” already mapped out. Way more exciting than just cash.
:dizzy:A quality everyday bag. Still one of the most used gifts long term, especially once work starts.
:dizzy:A “first apartment starter kit”. One girl got a box with реально useful stuff for moving out, like kitchen basics, small decor, even random things you don’t think about.

For him:
:dizzy: Noise-cancelling headphones. This one stays, реально useful for work, travel, focus.
:dizzy:A “career starter pack”. Like a clean watch + a few solid essentials for interviews or first job.
:dizzy:A skill-based gift. One guy got a paid course in something he actually wanted to learn, and that ended up being more valuable than any physical item.

The best gifts were always the ones that actually fit real life after graduation, not just something to open and forget.
