⏰ Figured out my “best time to study” the hard way

:alarm_clock:

Freshman year I tried to copy all those productivity gurus saying “wake up at 5AM, do deep work, blah blah.” Spoiler: I just fell asleep on my notes.

After a few semesters of trial and error, here’s what actually worked for me:

Late morning (10–12) for reading-heavy stuff like theory or lectures
Afternoon (2–5) for problem-solving (math, coding, stats)
Evening (8–10) for light review, flashcards, or organizing notes

The biggest realization: productivity advice is super one-size-fits-all, but your brain doesn’t work on someone else’s schedule.

I also started paying attention to when my brain naturally feels clear vs. foggy. Forcing myself to study during low-energy hours was basically wasting time.

Now I try to plan my study sessions around my actual energy levels, not some “perfect student routine” from YouTube.

Curious if anyone else figured out their best study time the hard way too. Are you a morning person, afternoon grinder, or late-night brain?

I always thought “early bird gets the worm,” but I’m way more productive at 11 PM with headphones blasting. Mornings? Coffee and more coffee just to exist.

ngl I had the same thing but figured it out way too late

for the longest time I was forcing myself to study at night cause “that’s when everyone studies”, but my brain was literally dead after like 9pm. I’d sit there for hours and barely remember anything.

then one week I had an early class and tried studying in the morning instead… and it just clicked. like way more focus, less procrastination, and I actually finished stuff faster.

I think people underestimate how much timing matters. your brain isn’t одинаковый весь день. some people are night owls, some are morning grinders, and if you fight that you just waste time.

what helped me:

  • testing different time slots for a few days (morning / afternoon / late night)

  • doing hardest stuff when I feel the most “awake”

  • leaving easy tasks for low-energy hours

also breaking study sessions into shorter blocks helped a lot, otherwise I just burn out

lowkey wish schools talked more about this instead of just “study harder” lol
